Happy New Year!

Here's to 2024 and a happy and successful year for us all. In my first post this year I'm going suggest some ideas for making the most of London in 2024 with a spotlight on the National Gallery which celebrates its 200th anniversary this year. Founded in 1824, the first 38 paintings came from the private art collection of a banker John Julius Angerstein. The world-class collection of paintings has grown to over 2,300 works, spanning the major traditions of Western European painting. There are FREE guided tours of the gallery on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays (excluding public holidays) between 3-4pm. A major exhibition of Van Gogh: Poets and Lovers will also mark the centenary of the Gallery’s acquisition of the artist’s Sunflowers and Van Gogh’s Chair (1888), two of its most famous pictures, in 1924. It will feature over 50 works and loans from museums and private collections around the world and will open in late September 2024!
