A free exhibition at the Imperial War Museum in London tells the stories of wartime London through the eyes of artists. "Beauty and Destruction: Wartime London" is on until 1 November 2026. The artworks show the landscapes of the war-torn city whose people showed huge resilience in the face of loss, displacement, overcrowding and shortages. This exhibition work brings their traumatic world to life, presenting a familiar yet strange city through paintings, drawings, photographs, film and oral histories.

From the iconic resilience of St Paul’s Cathedral which suffered little damage despite the devastation surrounding it, to the destruction of the Docklands and many of Sir Christopher Wren's beautiful churches (see below). Do go and see this immersive exhibition which takes you back in time at a critical time in the history of London. Here's a link to the Imperial War Museum website.
