The Thames Freezes!

Reports of the River Thames freezing over reminded me of the Frost Fair in 1683/4 (see the image by Thomas Wyke)! The river in London froze over for months in the winters of the 'Little Ice Age' and dancing, skittles, gingerbread and warm gin were all part of the Frost Fairs.
