There is SO much going on this Spring - walk through the daffodils in historic St James's Park and check out the classy views of Buckingham Palace and Whitehall from the Blue Bridge. Afterwards, wander along the the Strand to Somerset House where the Spring Restaurant is a very special place from lunch. Led by Skye Gyngell, Spring is in a bright, calm room - I went yesterday with a friend and the set menu was reasonably priced and absolutely delicious.

Historic Somerset House once housed the Royal Society and various public offices offices including the Tax Office and the Navy Office. It was also home to the Royal Academy of Art and now houses the Courtauld Gallery which is a gem - less busy than the National and the Tate. Perhaps pop in after lunch to see some amazing, world-class art from Van Gogh, to Manet, Degas and Cezanne. Alternatively, a Historical Highlights Tour is only £8pp and let's you see behind the scenes of a building which was once a Royal Palace!
