Hawk Alert!

I recently came across this beautiful bird of prey and his handler on an early morning stroll through Trafalgar Square. Harris Hawks are used to control the pigeons - they don't hunt them but their daily visits deter the pigeons from lingering. It's the "Soprano" effect - the hawks are there to intimidate! This historic square in the centre of London is arguably much cleaner and a nicer place to stop to take a photo by the beautiful fountains or admire Nelson's Column flanked by Edwin Landseer's fabulous lions.
